Haine announces 25-year sentence for man who stabbed co-worker at Walmart
Edwardsville, IL — Madison County State's Attorney Tom Haine announced today that a 20-year-old who stabbed a co-worker at the Collinsville Walmart has been convicted and sentenced to 25 years in prison.
Kelvin F. Fuller received the sentence Tuesday after pleading guilty to attempted murder, a class X felony. Fuller admitted that he repeatedly cut the co-worker with a knife on July 23, 2025.
Customers and other employees stepped in to help the victim, prompting Fuller to flee the store. Fuller was taken into custody nearby, and told police he attacked the co-worker because he felt that she had “disrespected” him.
“A workplace should be a place where people can do their jobs without fear of being attacked,” Haine said. “The actions of the employees and customers who stepped in to stop this attack may have prevented an even greater tragedy. I commend them for their intervention, and I commend law enforcement and our prosecution team for ensuring that this offender was held accountable for this violent crime.”
The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Mike Stewart. Collinsville Police Department responded to the call and conducted the investigation.
